Following the Public Hearing held Nov 6, 2008, the Town Board adopted the proposed 2009 Budget. Although the Board limited spending increases, only allowing for increases in Diesal fuel, Heating Oil, and paving materials, projected revenues were cut back from the 2008 Budget due to current shortcoming in Sales Tax, Interest earned, and State Aid, leading to an overall property tax increase of 6%. Public officials declined raises for the year, keeping salaries at the same level as last year, and three much needed positions were added: a deputy assessor, a clerk for the Code Enforcement Officer, and a deputy Tax Collector.
